FIGURE EIGHT RACE
Entry requirements:
1. You must be at least 16 years old to participate. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the release form to participate. One entry per person.
2. All drivers and pit crew members must sign an indemnity release (upon entering cars) releasing the Fair Association of any and all liability resulting from participation in the event.
3. Any driver not obeying the rules will be disqualified. This includes the car inspection. Entry money will be forfeited.
4. Heat positions will be determined by entry order.
5. All cars must be checked into the race ONE HOUR prior to the beginning of the race.
Rules:
1. Any stock American made sedan, hardtop or station wagon automobile is allowed. No trucks, jeeps or front wheel drive vehicles allowed.
2. Safety belts and helmets are required.
3. All glass and chrome must be removed prior to coming to the fairgrounds.
4. Gas tanks must be located in back seat area and stock gas tanks must be remove from its stock location. All gas tanks must be secured and covered. No 5 gallon cans allowed.
5. All doors and windows must be welded, chained, bolted or wired shut. Roll bars are MANDATORY and must be secured to the frame at 2 points (4 points preferred) and padded in driver area. The two front doors must be reinforced and mandatory driver door bar parallel to floor. Recommended-bar to the other side of the car, behind the driver's seat.
6. Both front doors must be painted a solid color. A 12" X 12" plaque must be placed on top of the car.
7. Radiator and transmission cooler overflows must run to the ground.
8. Radiators must remain in the stock position. One piece of 1/4 X 2 X 2 angle iron may be used across the radiator, cannot extend 6" on either side of the radiator. No extra radiator supports - pipe, tubing, etc. allowed. Six inch gussets are allowed in front corners no more than 1/4" thick and cannot connect to the angle iron running across the radiator.
9. No springs, jacks spacers, or blocked shocks are allowed. Aiar shocks may be used if lines are cut. Any shock with a coil spring around it must be cut.
10. Each car is allowed a maximum of 2 batteries that must be securely fastened and covere.
11. Trunk lids and hoods must be chained, welded, bolted or wired shut. If welded, maximum of 4" welds with 12" between welds. A 6' inspection hole must be cut in the trunk. The hood must have a 12" hole for fires and be removed at inspection, or have a 30" X 30" hole cut if you want it left on at inspection. All cars must have a hood.
12. Vehicles must have brakes before starting heat or feature.
13. Frames and bumpers must be stock and cannot be reinforced. No trailer hitches allowed.
14. Rub bars are allowed behind rear wheels, but must be inside the fenders.
15. No bolt ends or sharp metal facing outward will be allowed. Bumpers may be cut off but must be straight and smooth.
16. A piece of flat iron may be added in the kink area on the hood directly over the fender not to exceed 1/8 X 1 X 12 and cannot be connected to anything but the hood.
17. No obscenities on race cars.
18. Drivers may maneuver forward or backward.
19. You must avoid all driver side door contact. Any intentional hit outside the context of the race will be black flagged and possible suspension.
20. If entries are not ready for their heat, they may be disqualified or placed in another heat. Judges decision.
21. Additional rules and reguations may be imposed. These will be announced at the pit meeting. Pit meeting at the judge's stand 30 minutes prior to the race and all must attend.
22. All cars and equipment must be claimed and removed within 4 hrs. of the event, unless approved by the fairboard.
23. All officials decisions are final.
